In New Orleans, Meaghan Gibson, a 37-year-old resident, felt a special bond with the new pope.  She was thrilled to learn that his grandparents had once lived in her city. The atmosphere was joyful, with people cheering and clapping whenever the new pope was mentioned.  For many, it felt like their hometown hero had achieved something extraordinary.
