The situation in Gaza is tense, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insisting that Israel has no other option but to keep fighting. S. ambassador in Israel to push for lifting the blockade on Gaza to allow aid in.

        The conflict began when Hamas-led militants attacked southern Israel, killing about 1, 200 people and abducting 251. Most hostages have been released, but 59 remain, with 24 believed to be alive. Israel's offensive has resulted in over 51, 000 Palestinian deaths, mostly women and children.
