Jurassic World Rebirth has stomped into theaters and taken a huge bite out of the box office. Despite the usual July 4th distractions like barbecues and fireworks, this dinosaur flick didn't miss a beat. It raked in $26. 3 million on Friday alone, a 4% jump from Thursday. Over the five-day weekend, it pulled in a whopping $141. 2 million.

This isn't just a U. S. phenomenon. Globally, the movie has already made $312. 5 million, beating out the previous Jurassic World installment's opening. The franchise's first movie still holds the record for the biggest global debut, but Rebirth is giving it a run for its money.

The audience for Rebirth is a bit older than past Jurassic films. Only 36% of viewers are under 25, compared to 56% for the last movie. The 18-34 age group makes up 51% of the crowd, showing that this film is appealing to a wider range of adults. The movie also has a strong male audience, with 61% of viewers being male.

Rebirth is pulling in families and friends, with 41% of the audience being parents and kids, and 32% coming with friends. It's not exactly a date night movie, though, with only 7% of viewers on a date.

The movie is doing well across the country, especially in the South and South Central regions. The top-grossing theater is AMC's Disney Springs in Orlando, which has made $230, 000 so far. Premium large formats (PLFs) are driving a lot of ticket sales, with 29% of tickets sold for these formats and 18% for 3D.

Rebirth has better presales than the last Jurassic film, with 30% of tickets sold in the last week. The main reason people are buying tickets? They love the franchise. Fifty-one percent of viewers said they came because they're fans of the series.
