A top player is in high demand.  Jaka Bijol is a name that's been buzzing around in football circles.  He is a Slovenian defender who's caught the eye of two Premier League teams.  Newcastle United and Leeds United are both keen on securing his services.

Bijol is currently playing for Udinese in Italy's Serie A.  He's been a key player for them since joining in 2022.  He's made 95 appearances and has become a reliable figure in their defense.  This season alone, he played in 34 games, scoring once and assisting in one goal-creating action.

Leeds United have been the more aggressive pursuer so far.  They've already made an offer to Udinese, valuing Bijol at 15 million Euros.  However, Udinese are holding out for a higher price, around 20 million Euros.  Leeds seem willing to meet this demand, as they view Bijol as a top priority for their summer transfer window.

But here's where it gets interesting.  Newcastle United has entered the fray.  They've identified Bijol as a potential reinforcement for their center-back position.  Newcastle is gearing up for their return to the Champions League and wants to strengthen their defense.  They've already shown interest in Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi, but Bijol seems to be their new target.

Bijol has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Leeds.  He's even accepted a contract until June 2029.  But with Newcastle's interest, things might change.  The deal isn't finalized yet, and Bijol could be swayed by Newcastle's offer.

It's a classic case of two teams vying for the same player.  Both have their reasons, and both seem determined to get their man.  It's a situation that could go either way.  It's a reminder that in football, nothing is ever certain until the deal is done.
