Mark Carney, the newly elected Prime Minister of Canada, has a big meeting lined up. He's heading to the White House to chat with U. S. President Donald Trump. This isn't just any meeting.  It's happening at a tense time. Trump's trade wars and threats to take over other countries have everyone on edge.

Carney's Liberal Party just pulled off a major win, which many see as a big "no" to Trump's actions. Canadians were upset by Trump's trade wars and his disrespect for their country's independence. They voted for change, and they got it.  Carney's party is now back in power for the fourth time.  The Prime Minister is clear about his mission. He wants to stand up to Trump and build a strong economy for Canada.

Carney isn't sugarcoating it. He knows the meeting won't be easy. But he's ready to fight for Canada's best interests. He's also looking ahead.  On May 27, King Charles III will speak about the Canadian government's plans when Parliament starts up again. This is a big deal. It shows that Canada is in charge of its own future.

Carney has been talking about Canada's roots, mentioning the United Kingdom and France. He's also been clear that the old days of close friendship with the U. S. are over. He's not afraid to speak his mind. He's said that the U. S. used to lead the world economy and build strong alliances. But those days are gone.  Carney is all about moving forward. He wants to work with Trump, but he's not going to back down. He's already had a productive call with the President and they've set a date for their meeting.

Some people think Carney should stay away from Washington. They worry that Trump might disrespect Canada and Carney. But Carney is ready to take the risk. He's got a plan and he's sticking to it. He wants to bring the country together. He wants Canadians to roll up their sleeves and tackle the challenges ahead. He's calling for bold action and unity. He's not interested in playing games. He's in politics to make a difference.

Carney has also talked about his priorities. He wants to form a new Cabinet and get to work. He's even offered to help the opposition Conservatives. If they want Pierre Poilievre to run in a by-election, Carney will make it happen. He's all about getting things done. He's had a chat with Poilievre about Canada's strategy with the Americans. He's serious about his job and he's ready to lead.
