Campbell, who has experience at shortstop and in the outfield, is seen as a strong candidate for second base. If Campbell makes the team, Bregman could see time at both second and third base, with Campbell potentially playing left field. The team may also consider moving Jarren Duran to center field and Rafael Devers to DH on some days.

The Red Sox are weighing the defensive and offensive strengths of their players. Devers has been vocal about his preference to remain at third base, but Bregman and Campbell could provide a more robust defensive pairing. Campbell's offensive potential could also impact the playing time of Masataka Yoshida and Ceddanne Rafaela, who may see reduced roles or even lose their roster spots.

The Red Sox's plans hinge on Campbell's performance this spring. If he struggles, Bregman could start at second base until Campbell is ready. If Campbell impresses, the team will have to figure out how to best utilize their infield talent.
