John Lodge, a key figure in the iconic British rock band The Moody Blues, has passed away at the age of 82. His family shared the sad news, mentioning that he left this world unexpectedly but peacefully, surrounded by loved ones and the melodies of The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly.

Born in Birmingham, Lodge joined The Moody Blues in 1966, two years after the band's formation. He stepped in after the departure of Denny Laine and Clint Warwick, alongside singer Justin Hayward. Lodge stayed with the band until they stopped performing live in 2018.

Lodge's contributions to The Moody Blues are significant. He was part of their groundbreaking 1967 album "Days Of Future Passed, " often considered one of the first concept albums in rock history. The following year, he helped create "In Search Of The Lost Chord, " another notable work. In 1977, Lodge was involved in "Octave, " where the band shifted to a more pop-oriented sound.

His musical journey with the band continued until their final studio album, "December, " released in 2003. This album was a collection of Christmas songs. The Moody Blues performed live until 2018, the same year they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
