Transforming your typical winter walk into a magical adventure. Two parks near the Twin Cities are doing just that with their "Trails By Candlelight" events. Up first is Thompson County Park in West St. Paul on January 24, 2025. Then, on February 7, head over to Spring Lake Park Reserve in Hastings. Both of these events aim to turn your ordinary winter hike into an extraordinary experience. What makes it special? Well, let's start with cozy bonfires, hot cocoa stations, and food trucks that will warm you up from the inside out. Plus, if you fancy trying out some new winter activities, ski and snowshoe rentals will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Getting involved is easy. Tickets go on sale from December 1st at 9 a. m. , priced at $8 for anyone aged five and up. But if you're looking to do more than just attend, volunteers are needed for various roles, such as bonfire tenders, luminary setters, and cocoa assistants. Keep an eye out for sign-ups! Weather can be unpredictable, so all activities are subject to change if conditions are unsafe. The final event plan will be shared 24 hours in advance on the event's web page and the Dakota County Parks Facebook page. Unfortunately, there won't be any refunds for changes in activities, but full refunds will be given if the event gets canceled due to weather.
