Moving More With Psoriasis and Joint Pain
Researchers wanted to know if moving more helps people with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. They ran an umbrella review. That means they looked at many other reviews at once. They searched six big databases. The search went from the start of each database until March 1, 2026. They followed strict reporting rules called PRISMA and PRIOR.
Nine reviews made the cut. Eight of them dealt with psoriatic arthritis. Just one focused on skin-only psoriasis. No single review could isolate how exercise changes skin psoriasis severity by itself.
Two reviewers checked the records alone. They solved disagreements by talking. A third reviewer stepped in when needed. They used quality tools like AMSTAR 2 and GRADE. The confidence levels were not strong. One review rated moderate. Five rated low. Three rated critically low.
The team did not pool all results together. The same trials kept showing up across reviews. This was common with intense workout bursts and steady cardio. Most skin psoriasis evidence came from observation or broad lifestyle programs. That makes it hard to say exercise alone fixes the skin condition. Readers should ask why the data is so thin for skin symptoms. This gap matters for patients and doctors.
