In the vast northwestern part of Romania, a critical look was taken at how people with diabetes felt about getting the COVID-19 vaccine.

    The study involved 189 individuals, all diagnosed with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes. This region is notable for having a large number of people dealing with diabetes, making it a key area for understanding vaccine acceptance.

    The survey was thorough, covering a wide range of topics. It asked about personal details, medical history, education level, religious beliefs, and attitudes toward the COVID-19 vaccine.

    The results showed an almost even split between genders, with slightly more females than males. Most participants were between 51 and 70 years old. Education levels varied, but a significant number had only completed high school.

    When it came to medical history, almost all participants had type 2 diabetes. Many were taking oral medications to manage their condition, and a large number had cardiovascular diseases. Interestingly, most had experienced at least one COVID-19 infection.

    The study found that a majority of the participants had received the COVID-19 vaccine. The Pfizer vaccine was the most common choice. The main reason for getting vaccinated was a concern for personal health and the well-being of others.

    For those who chose not to get vaccinated, fear of side effects was the primary concern. When it came to the third dose, personal perceptions played a significant role in hesitancy, while health concerns remained the top reason for acceptance.

    The study also found that factors like marital status, age, religious beliefs, ethnicity, occupation, and education level had a significant impact on vaccine acceptance.

    This research highlights the importance of education and comprehensive healthcare in promoting vaccine acceptance. Starting early and integrating preventive medicine into the healthcare system could make a big difference.

    It is crucial to consider these factors when developing strategies to increase vaccine uptake, especially among vulnerable populations like those with diabetes.
