A couple of years ago, fans of the indie rock supergroup Boygenius began to wonder if there was more than just music between Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker.  Fans were curious if the two were more than just bandmates.  It was only recently that Dacus confirmed that she and Baker are indeed in a relationship.  They decided to move to Los Angeles together after the band's tour ended in 2024.  However, both artists have been hesitant to share too many details about their relationship with the public.  They are aware of how intense some fan interactions can be and how it can make their personal lives feel vulnerable.

The idea of balancing privacy and transparency is a tough one.  Dacus has struggled with this, especially as a songwriter.  She wants to protect her personal life but also wants to be honest in her art.  She has had to learn to trust that her relationship is not as fragile as it might seem.  She has come to realize that her relationship is not something that can be easily threatened by outside forces.

Dacus has always believed that romance should come from a place of friendship or creative partnership.  She finds the idea of a romance without friendship hard to comprehend.  She has always found that her relationships have blossomed from close friendships and creative collaborations.  She finds it exciting when two minds meet and connect on a deeper level.

Speculation about Dacus and Baker's relationship has been going on for years.  However, it was a Halloween costume in October 2023 that reignited interest in the two as a couple.  They dressed up as Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande, which only fueled the rumors.  Dacus is currently promoting her new solo album, Forever Is a Feeling, which is set to be released in March.  Baker, on the other hand, is working on a collaborative country album with TORRES, which is set to be released in April.

The world of music and romance often go hand in hand.  It is not uncommon for musicians to find love within their creative circles.  However, it is important to remember that these relationships are just as real and valid as any other.  They deserve the same privacy and respect as anyone else.  It is also important to remember that just because two people are in a relationship does not mean that their music will suffer.  In fact, it can often inspire even greater creativity.
